ในยุคสมัยโรคไวรัสกำลังดัง ถ้ามีแพทย์แนะนำว่าล้างมือด้วยน้ำและสบู่ก็พอ อย่าเพิ่งคิดว่าน้อยไป เพราะผลวิจัยขนาดใหญ่ล่าสุด จากมหาวิทยาลัยนอร์ท แคโรไลน่า ตีพิมพ์ลงในวารสาร American Journal of Infection control พบว่า การล้างมือด้วยน้ำยาฆ่าเชื้อแบบที่นิยมกัน คือเป็นแอลกอฮอล์ชนิดแห้งไปเลยและไม่ต้องใช้น้ำล้างอีก(alcohol based) และสบู่กับน้ำธรรมดา ไม่ต่างกันในการฆ่าเชื้อไวรัส<\/strong><\/p>\n

การวิจัยเปรียบเทียบ ที่ใช้กลุ่มตัวอย่างขนาดใหญ่ จากมหาวิทยาลัยนอร์ท แคโรไลน่า พบว่า การใช้สบู่และน้ำ ก็เพียงพอที่จะกำจัด ไวรัสไข้หวัดใหญ่ ตับอักเสบชนิด เอ ไวรัสลำไส้อักเสบ และอื่น ๆ อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ
\nคณะผู้ศึกษา กล่าวว่า การศึกษาส่วนใหญ่ กระทำกันแต่ศึกษาประสิทธิภาพของน้ำยาล้างมือ ในการฆ่าเชื้อแบคทีเรียเท่านั้น ซึ่งพบว่า แม้แต่น้ำยาฆ่าเชื้อ ที่ไม่ต้องใช้น้ำล้าง(คือแอลกอฮอล์ล้างมือ)ส่วนใหญ่ ก็สามารถฆ่าแบคทีเรียได้ประมาณ 50% “และไม่มีการศึกษาใดที่ศึกษา เปรียบเทียบ การฆ่าเชื้อแบคทีเรียและไวรัสไปพร้อมๆกัน”
\nนอกจากนั้น การศึกษานี้ยังเปรียบเทียบ ระยะเวลาการล้างมือ เทียบระหว่าง 10วินาที (อย่างที่แพทย์และพยาบาลที่รีบร้อน ทำ)และ 30 วินาที(ตามที่แนะนำในหนังสือ) ซึ่งการล้างมือของบุคลากรการแพทย์นี้เป็นกุญแจที่สำคัญ ที่จะนำไปสู่การป้องกันการแพร่เชื้อในรพ.(เหมือนอย่างที่การระบาดของไวรัส SARS หรือไข้หวัดนก)
\nจากการศึกษา พบว่า เมื่อเปรียบเทียบการล้างแบคทีเรียออกจากมือ การใช้น้ำยาล้างมือฆ่าเชื้อโรคแบบที่ต้องใช้น้ำล้างออก มีประสิทธิภาพดีกว่าแอลกอฮอล์ที่ใช้ล้างมือ และพบว่า การล้างมือด้วยน้ำยา ประมาณ 10 วินาที ก็สามารถล้างเชื้อออกได้ประมาณ 90% ดีกว่าแอลกอฮอล์และน้ำกับสบู่
\nแต่เมื่อศึกษากับไวรัส พบว่า การล้างมือด้วยแอลกอฮอล์ล้างมือ แย่กว่าน้ำสบู่ธรรมดา หรือสบู่ฆ่าเชื้อโรค ซึ่งสองกรณีหลัง ให้ประสิทธิภาพดีพอๆกัน เราพบว่า ในไวรัสที่ทนทาน สามารถทนต่อแอลกอฮอล์ล้างมือได้<\/p>\n

ดังนั้น ถ้ากลัวการติดไวรัส ไม่ว่าหวัด ไวรัสตับอักเสบ ไข้หวัดนก ฯลฯ ไม่ต้องตกใจล้างมือด้วยน้ำสะอาดและสบู่ก็เพียงพอแล้ว ในสถานการณ์ที่หายาฆ่าเชื้อโรคไม่ได้<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
