\nโรคความบกพร่องในการเรียนรู้ จะมีลักษณะร่วมที่เหมือนกันคือ ความผิดปกติในสมอง ในส่วนที่เก็บ และวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล เรียกง่าย ๆ ว่าปัญหาในการเรียนนั่นเอง ทำให้เด็ก ไม่สามารถ อ่าน หรือเขียน หรือคำนวณได้ และจะมีปัญหาต่อมาถึงทักษะ ความสามารถในทางสังคม และอาจมีปัญหาอื่นตามมาเช่นซึมเศร้า ขาดความยับยั้ง ต้านสังคม
\nความเข้าใจผิดอีกอย่างของโรคเกียวกับการเรียนรู้ คือเข้าใจว่าเด็ก เรียนช้า หรือความฉลาดน้อยกว่าคนอื่น ทำให้เด็กและพ่อแม่ขาดความเชื่อมั่น ในตนเอง ความจริงก็คือ เด็กที่มีความบกพร่องในการเรียนรู้ ระดับสติปัญญา และความเฉลียวฉลาดเป็นปกติ หรือสูงกว่าค่าเฉลี่ยด้วยซ้ำ<\/p>\n
