ไวรัสตับอักเสบบี (Hepatitis B) คือการอักเสบของเซลล์ตับอันเกิดจากการติดเชื้อไวรัสตับอักเสบ บี (Hepatitis B Virus: HBV) การอักเสบนี้ส่งผลให้เซลล์ตับถูกทำลาย หากการติดเชื้อกลายเป็นแบบเรื้อรัง จะนำไปสู่การเกิดพังผืดในตับ ตับแข็ง และเพิ่มความเสี่ยงอย่างมากต่อการเกิดมะเร็งตับในที่สุด<\/p>\n

Hepatitis B is an inflammation of the liver cells caused by the Hepatitis B Virus (HBV). This inflammation leads to liver cell death. If the infection becomes chronic, it can result in liver fibrosis, cirrhosis, and significantly increase the risk of developing liver cancer.<\/p>\n

ในประเทศไทย คาดการณ์ว่ามีประชากรประมาณร้อยละ 5 ที่มีการติดเชื้อไวรัสตับอักเสบบี ซึ่งหมายถึงประชากรราว 3 ล้านคนที่มีเชื้อไวรัสนี้อยู่ในร่างกาย พร้อมที่จะแพร่เชื้อสู่ผู้อื่นและอาจก่อให้เกิดความเจ็บป่วยรุนแรงต่อตนเอง<\/p>\n

In Thailand, it is estimated that approximately 5% of the population is infected with Hepatitis B. This equates to about 3 million people carrying the virus, who may potentially transmit it to others and suffer severe health complications themselves.<\/p>\n

การติดเชื้อที่พบบ่อยในอดีตคือการถ่ายทอดจากมารดาที่ติดเชื้อสู่ทารก (Vertical Transmission) อย่างไรก็ตาม ในปัจจุบันอุบัติการณ์นี้ลดลงอย่างมากเนื่องจากการฉีดวัคซีนให้ทารกแรกเกิด ซึ่งช่วยป้องกันได้เกือบร้อยละ 100<\/p>\n

Historically, the most common mode of transmission was from an infected mother to her infant. However, in the present day, this incidence has decreased significantly due to newborn vaccination programs, which provide nearly 100% protection.<\/p>\n
